ditherlist Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 26, 2026

Overview

ditherlist is an iOS app developed by PRPL Solutions Inc. It is a place to keep photographs of found things, each one rendered as a 1-bit halftone. There is no account to make and no server to sign in to. This policy describes what the app accesses on your device, and what we do not collect.

Data We Do Not Collect

ditherlist does not collect, transmit, or share any personal data. Specifically:

  • No tracking or analytics
  • No advertising identifiers
  • No accounts, and no personal information
  • No crash reports sent to external servers
  • No data sold or shared with third parties
  • No internet connection required or used

On-Device Storage

Your photographs — both the original and the dithered version — are written to the app's own storage on your device, and the album they belong to, along with anything you type about them, is kept in the app's local database. None of it leaves your device or is accessible to PRPL Solutions or any third party. It is included in your device backups if you back your device up, because that is how iOS treats an app's own files. Deleting an entry deletes its photographs from the device; deleting the app removes everything it ever stored.

Camera and Photo Library

The camera permission is used to photograph the things you collect. Photographs are processed on the device and saved only into ditherlist. To import a picture you already have, the app uses Apple's system photo picker, which runs outside the app and hands over only the picture you choose — ditherlist never sees the rest of your library.

Location

Location is optional, requested only while you are using the app, and used only to note where an entry was found. The app takes a single reading, converts it to a short place name on the device, and keeps that name as text alongside the entry. Neither the reading nor the place name is transmitted anywhere. Declining the permission costs you nothing but the place name.

Exporting

When you export an entry, iOS hands the image to whichever app you pick from the share sheet. What happens to it after that is governed by that app's privacy policy, not this one.

Children's Privacy

Because ditherlist does not collect any data, there are no special concerns regarding users under the age of 13. No personal information is collected from anyone.
